Scooby Pheasant's ! September 29, 2008 Mrs. C. A. Degg (Staffordshire UK) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought this a while ago for our dog Scooby and he loves it, loves it so much that it has to be hung up on the door otherwise, it would be a very dead pheasant (bald and without its squeak) and very slobbery. Some dogs seem to love cuddly dog toys and will quite happily snuggle up with theirs in their baskets, ours doesn't hence Scooby not having full control of his pheasant toy. It does seem well made and doesn't have any loose cottons or stitching anywhere on it. Also the squeak bit seems really embedded deeply inside toy's middle, so it cann't move to one side and come out. (On some of the cheap nasty ones they can come out and become a real problem especially if there are any small children around, you know how small children like to put things they shouldn't inside their mouths). So not only can the item be a danger for the dog but also children, but no fear with this one. Safe for any dog or child and great fun. Our seven year old liked it so much he thought it was his, I think this is also due to the fact that it feels lovely and soft, more like a good quality teddy bear feel. It does look good hung up could get a couple then you could have a brace of pheasants! Not utterly blindingly colourful like so many toys on the market for dogs, more for dog owners that have a reserved colour palatte! Safe enough for playing with in the house without things getting broken, hard plastic toys and some rubber ones can actually do some damage inside the house. Could get a little grimmy if played with outside though, ours has been inside the washing machine on a short cycle and has come out as good as new. Doesn't make your dog chase after any real pheasants either, so you are quite safe walking your dog out in the country lanes. The squeak does sound quite realistic, not some little annoying noise but quite gruff.
