3 out of 5 stars Medium-sized Interior Airconditioner Covers   November 24, 2008

This product has two-pieces that's easy to put on with the tape provided. There's a foam piece to put on first and then the canvas cover that has an elastic band to hold the cover in place. The cover blocks most drafts, but not completely. However, along with a sufficient heating system you should be quite comfortable for the winter.

4 out of 5 stars It works for me   January 20, 2008

I bought this with trepidation, having read the negative reviews here. But it works great! I did not have difficulty putting it on, and it stopped the drafts that had been coming in. My window air conditioner measures 16 in. by 23 in., and the size medium cover fits. The tape stuck easily, and it was not a problem to stretch the cloth cover over the machine, where it stays quite snugly blocking out the cold air.

The only drawback for me was that my unit rests on the window sill, so the cloth cover did not slip smoothly between the unit and the sill. I took a silver butter knife and pushed the material in, which did the trick.

I plan on buying two more -- one for another window unit, and one for a through-the-wall a/c.

1 out of 5 stars Not worth the money (plus shipping, which ends up being an extra 50%)   February 23, 2007

You'd do better to fashion yourself your own AC cover. Here's why: the "kit" contains (1) a padded quilt cover (what you see in the picture), (2) some padding material that as far as I can see is the same stuff you use to wrap crockery if you are moving ("windblock foam liner" indeed...) and (3) a roll of sellotape that doesn't stick. Having "assembled" my cover (using my own tape), I can still feel the cold air rushing in whenever the wind blows. So that makes a nonsense of the "Seal your air conditioner in winter to prevent heat loss" statement: if I can feel the cold wind coming in, the heat is definitely going out.

My previous do-it-yourself solution was to place a layer of bubble wrap over the AC, held in place by some elastic - it was far more effective than this contraption, and far cheaper.
