Makita LS1214FL Miter Saw December 14, 2008 David J. Defelippi Ok I owen & opperate a Int.Trim Co. we do high end custom homes and spec.production homes thru out South Florida.Between myself & the guys we have used just about all the saws on the market and this one falls somewhere in the middle of the road.I have two issues with this saw the first being that the stops @ each miter have to much play about 1 Deg. to the left or the right of each angle unless you lock the saw down each time. The other is that the guard catches the long point of a compound miter on any crown over 5 1/4" cut from the end of the material. So I am not sure if I am into this saw or not it has only been a month and I think I still like my Dewalt better .Time will tell .All and all it is a nice saw
Makita 12" sliding compound miter saw October 29, 2008 Thomas Norman Jr. (San Francisco) Very good saw. Solidly built, easy to use, and received high ratings as best miter saw in this size. Only 2 issues: the saw was shipped with a defective handle and trigger switch (quality control?) and that was resolved to my satisfaction. Second is the saw is quite heavy and large so not easy to carry around.
Makita 12" saw September 8, 2008 Nels Larson I have never owned this saw but I have used it quite a few times. I has plenty of power. I found it a little hard to move around and to adjust the settings.
Nice saw, cheap fence, poor customer service July 31, 2008 Graham Love (Denver) THis is a sweet saw until it broke. The fence shattered in three different places within a few days of opening the box. Customer service was not concerned that their components did not stand up to regular use. The parts had quality i would expect of an inferior tool manufacturer.
Awesome saw July 28, 2008 Brian Schoenbaechler (Marietta, GA) This saw is amazing. It makes precision cuts. the stock blade works extremely well when cutting crown molding. Don't make a mistake and buy a Dewalt!
