It gives comfortable continuous heat for up to 24 hours on a single filling of lighter fluid. It can be turned off by removing the heating element for a few seconds. Platinum catalyst flameless technology ensures easy lighting and stable temperature from beginning to the end. The newer heating element has 3 times more platinum powder. You start it with a cigarette lighter burning about 2 seconds. Made of polished chrome plated copper, which does not rust like steel. It includes a carrying case and an extra heating element. Buy one for each pocket or coat and never be chilled in the cold again. This hand warmer is the ideal gift for the hunter and fisherman, and anyone that enjoys the outdoors in the winter. I got the handwarmer as a Christmas gift to help keep warm while fly fishing. Unfortunately it works great indoors but as soon as I'm outside it goes cold. I'm sure I've got it filled properly and that it's started. It's very warm before I put it in my pocket. But once I put it outside it just goes cold. As soon as I bring it indoors it starts to heat up again. It's a real bummer because it's a great idea if only it would work.

This brand was suggested to me by a friend. I gave them as Christmas gifts to my father-in-law and brother-in-law for fishing and delivering mail in the winter months. They both loved them and couldn't believe how warm they acutally got just being in a pocket. I would suggest getting two(one for each pocket).

I have had a similar product for 20 years but was lost, and I bought this one to replace it. After about 5 refills it just stopped working.... don't know why.... I'm giving it 1 star because it didn't catch fire.

Works great. Had problems at first trying to light them but once I found the secret they work fine.
Secret: Hold flame to wick at least for 10 seconds then before you put the metal top on let set for a few minutes.
