Product Description
"Shadow Box Dice Game" This is a new game that is becoming more popular by the moment. It can be played for fun or for money! This version of the game is called Shut the Box. It is a very solid game unit of stained finish wood and green felt and comes complete with dice. Rubber "feet" are on the bottom to protect your table top. The object of the game is to get the lowest score for your round. There are numbers 1 through 10 on the board. If an 8 is rolled then the number can be shut off on the board or any numbers that add up to 8 such as a 6 and a 2 or a 5 and a 3. The round ends when a person rolls a number that cannot be taken off the board. If the person has an 11 and a 9 left then their score is 20. If that turns out to be the lowest score after everyone has taken their turn, then that person is the winner. The game is popular as a wagering game when all players ante up a dollar or more and the winner takes the pot. The box is 10 1/16" square and 1 5/8" tall. "THIS IS A GREAT GAME FOR PARTIES!!!" "THIS GAME WILL BE THE CENTER PIECE OF YOUR PARTY!!!"

Shut the Box January 6, 2009 omaente (CT, USA) Both Shut the Box games arrived without cover boxes and with NO instructions! I had to download instructions from the Internet to enclose with the gifts.
Not as pictured December 18, 2008 E. Goellner (Chicago, IL) This product didn't come with the pictured box and the dice are tiny. The game is still fun and a great learning tool for pre-school and kindergartners.
Shut the Box December 16, 2008 Barbie I ordered these games in the fall. I received 3 and they were great. Then I ordered two more the first part of December. They came and were not in the original game box. They were in a plain cardboard box and there were no instructions. I called Customer Service and she was very helpful and placed a new order for me with 2 day shipping. She instructed me to return the other two games with a prepaid shipping label. We received the 2nd shipment today and they too are in the plain cardboard boxes and no instructions. It is just a few days before our gift exchange and I do not have time to return them and order from somewhere else so I guess I will have to keep with without instructions if I want to give them as a Christmas gift. I have to call Customer Service again when I get home from work to discuss this but at this time I am very disgusted with Amazon.

While the game itself is great, the packaging is terrible. It came in a plain brown cardboard box, not the game box that was shown in the illustration on the Amazon site. There were also no directions included. When I called customer service, I was told to go to the internet and print out a copy of any directions I could find. I reordered the product, and got the exact same packaging. Since I was giving this as a gift, I returned both copies. They looked like they were second-hand the way they were packaged. Too bad...this is a great game and twice the price if purchased in a toy store.
Fun, fun game October 3, 2008 Fun Traveler (Orefield, PA USA) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
We first played this game at Chownings Tavern in Williamsburg. It was instantly addicting. Found it on Amazon for much less than they were asking. It is essentially a bar-dice type game but with a board (in this case, wooden box). We keep it next to our breakfast table and play a couple rounds at a time. Plan to give these as gifts for Christmas.
