DR SEUSS software is A+++ December 21, 2008 Jean-luc Helson (new jersey) My daughter is 4 and she has been playing with the Dr. Seuss software for about a year. The software is unquestionably the BEST of everything I have seen. Most have 1) long intro's 2) the games make no sense 3) they are essentially a downsized video game with no academic purpose. The Dr. Suess is NONE of those. It is happy, cheerful, educational. Navigation through the game is logical (even an adult can figure it out) and all children find delight in the characters and even start interacting with the non-game aspects of the software. My only criticism is that there isn't more just like it.
Awesome game but not compatible with newer OS December 10, 2008 M. Reid We had this game for years and my older kids loved it. Navigation between games is very easy, the different activities were enjoyable for the kids and the multiple levels for each activity allowed them to go at their own pace without outgrowing it too quickly. Kids can continue to play after they master all levels. We especially liked that the games provided appropriate complexity as they progressed, so the kids did not get bored with the activity as they went up the levels. The downside is the software was made long enough ago that it's not compatible with newer windows operating systems. We got a new disc for our youngest and had issues with the program closing unexpectedly on XP and can't get past the opening movie in Vista. Too bad there's no update because it is really one of the better preschool programs out there!
Outdated software November 21, 2008 Disappointed customer 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The title says Platform Windows, Macintosh. It should read VERY OLD Windows, Macintosh. CAUTION: This version of Dr. Seuss Preschool is NOT compatible with modern Macintosh operating systems. For Macintosh, you must be running VERY OLD "Classic" software for this title to run. I suspect the same is true for Windows. I bought this for my two boys. I inserted the title into my Macintosh, running OS 10.5, and discovered that Dr. Seuss Preschool only ran on computers running VERY OLD operating systems. Beware!!! Very misleading!
Unstable for XP September 18, 2008 J. Coffey (Georiga) This game unfortunatly might be unstable for some windows XP. I bought this game years ago for my first child when we had windows 95 and it was wonderful!! She loved it and it was a great teaching tool. But when we upgrated to XP, everytime when I tryed to play it, it would just shut my computer down. I was excited when I ordered this one because I thought that it had been updated for XP but apparently it was not because when I recieved it, it does the same thing. It might work on some XP's, I'm not sure but I know it does not work on mine. I hate it, because I so wanted to use it for my other daughter who is 3 years old.
Unstable on XP systems April 20, 2008 William Carson (Key Largo FL) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This was a VERY entertaining piece of software for my first 4y/o boy a couple of years ago, but re-installation of it for my next boy proved impossible on two separate XP systems. The software was written for win95 and apparently has not been updated. It can be found very cheaply, but odds are not good that it will work. Too bad, the animation and music are fabulous, probably the best for kids that age.
