it is not. it is 7 1/2 by 8
as we already had an opening cut from previous cat door the measurements
were essential. it does not fit.

I like having my two kitties, but I don't like seeing, or worse, smelling, their litter box. For this reason, I keep it in the unfinished part of my basement. This area is blocked by 2 doors from the main living area of the house. After forgetting to leave one of these doors open for several hours while I was gone one day. I realized that something had to be done. I am a young, single female and I had no problem installing 2 of these. My only complaint is that the flap didn't swing easily in either one of them. I feared that the flap would stick and the cats would be stuck on the wrong side of the door. I just popped out the flap and left the framing. They look good and the cats love them. Neither of my cats (one is a classic fraidy-cat) hesitated at all to go through them. Now I can be gone for a couple of days and not worry that they won't be able to get to the "necessary" room. Well worth the inexpensive price.

I purchased several of these cat flaps for my chihuahuas. The size is great for them and they are working well. They were easy to install. The only concern is it takes some dogs a little longer to learn how to push a hard flap as opposed to a softer type flap. Really not that big of a deal though.
