Product Description
The Gentle Leader Easy Walk Harness is designed to gently discourage your dog from pulling while walking on a leash. It's so simple - easy to fit and easy to use. There is very little acclimation time or special technique required. Unlike traditional collars, the Gentle Leader Easy Walk Harness never causes coughing, gagging or choking because the chest strap rests low across the breastbone, not on the delieate tracheal area. Traditional harnesses can actually encourage dogs to pull harder because of the opposition reflex. That's the reflex that makes sled dogs do what they do. The Gentle Leader Easy Walk Harness redirects the pressure through a front leash attachment. The patent-pending martingale closure tightens slightly across the chest and shoulder blades when your dog attempts to pull forward. Quality features: Quick snap buckle on both the shoulder and belly straps to make it easier to get the harness on and off your dog. Soft but strong nylon and 4 adjustment points provide maximum comfort and a reliable fit. The complementary color of the belly strap makes it easier to identify each strap, while keeping the overall look pleasantly color-coordinated. You can quickly see which strap goes over the shoulders and which goes under the belly. Available in 5 sizes: Petite (3/8 in. nylon) for Teacup breeds 12-16 in. girth, Small (1/2 in. nylon) for Jack Russells, Shelties, etc. 15-20 in. girth, Medium (3/4' nylon) for Border Collies, Spaniels 20-28 in. girth, Large (1 in. nylon) for Labs, Goldens, German Shepherds, Rottweilers 26-36 in. girth, XLarge (1 in. nylon) for Giant breeds and oversized dogs 34-46 in. girth. Girth should be measured snugly around the dog's rib cage, just behind the front legs. Not desinged for use with a Flexi-Leash

5 out of 5 stars It works!   March 26, 2008
I. McClain (Ridgeland, MS United States)
I just tried this on my 70 pound plus mixed breed, somewhat hyper dog this morning and it was a pleasure to actually WALK! The gentle sideways pressure on the lead restrained her when she bolted forward and we actually had a nice 30 minute walk. So far, the "test drive" results are great! I read about using a harness of this type in Dr. Patricia McConnell's, "Feisty Fido" book and thought I'd give it a try. It was not a problem to use-she didn't do the "dog down on all fours", refusing to move like she did with the Gentle Leader. She also seemed to be easier to control which was an issue with the harness that fits under the front legs and the leash attaches at mid-shoulder. Maybe this is the answer-I hope so!
