Taz Approved! December 2, 2008 A. Kowski (Colorado, USA) A great enrichment activity for your dog! I have Parson Russell Terrier who, like most PRT/JRT, is smart as a whip and easily bored. He also eats his meals in 22 seconds flat out of his bowl... he would be back begging for more immediately because it wasn't even registering that he had eaten. I spent about a half hour in a big box pet store looking at the variety of treat dispensing balls before deciding on this one, and it turned out to be a great choice. The soft but durable material is perfect for on hardwood floors, and though we got the large size, it is really perfect for Taz to roll around. Even after two months, I find myself watching him eat almost every day because he is just having such a great time figuring out just what direction to roll the ball for maximum payoff and crawling under the chairs and other obstacles to follow the ball and the food. I am planning on buying several more so that I don't have to fill one before every meal because Taz goes absolutely nuts at the sound of it being filled, and it just takes much longer than grabbing a cup of food. I use "small bite" dog food bits in our JRT's Everlasting Fun Ball without any real problem... I just hold the ball with the bottom hole resting on my left palm while I fill it through a funnel stuck into the top hole with my right (we use a new motor oil funnel that we cut about an inch below the wide part where you pour into). Even though the small bites do come out fairly easily, it still takes Taz 4-8 minutes to eat now, plus another minute to retrace his path to make sure he didn't miss any. Talk about a HUGE improvement! I will probably adapt one or two of the new balls to take regular size food and mix the two kibble sizes together for in there to give him a slightly different rolling experience - that way he'll never know what to expect when I put the ball down.
Not just for chewers December 1, 2008 D. Hoffman (Boston, MA USA) I bought this for my dog to keep her busy when she's alone in the house. She didn't take much interest in the kong that everyone raves about. She's not really a chewer, so I cut two of the tiny tabs off one of the holes to make the kibble fall out with less manipulation. Now she can just roll it around the kitchen, and a few pieces of kibble fall out with each roll. I put her whole meal inside, and it keeps her occupied for a while. Just a side note, although I have a medium sized dog, I bought the large sized ball in order to fit her whole meal in it. I would have given five stars if I didn't have to cut some tabs out in order for her to enjoy it.
Poor Design October 2, 2008 Ana Mardoll 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Everlasting Fun Treat Ball / B0009YD8NS I have several treat dispensing toys for my puppy, and I like this one the least. The design is very poor, in my opinion, at least compared to other treat toys we've used. To begin with, it is difficult to "load" the toy with food and treats because there are two identical loading holes, one opposite the other. This means that when I pour treats in, they pour right out on the opposite side. It's like filling a bucket with no bottom, and it's very frustrating. Eventually, you have to just find the biggest treats you can, and jam them in, which is a pain and a half. Not to mention the edges of the hole catch and grab at your fingers - fun! That brings me to my next point - you cannot put small treats or puppy kibble in here as they will fall out immediately. Only big fat treats will provide the dog a challenge, but fortunately the makers of this product make such treats and are more than willing to sell them to you. Which is fine, I guess, and I went ahead and bought some, but I prefer to fill my treat toys with at least some regular kibble so that the puppy doesn't just gorge himself on a bunch of rich treats all at once. Since this ball won't allow me to do this, it's now an occasional toy, not a reliable daily toy. Bottom line: I feel that this toy is difficult to fill, and can only be used for "treat gorging" and not for regular dinner time. If your fingers are less delicate than mine and you just want a treat ball, you may like this - my dog certainly likes the chewy rubber and he hasn't destroyed it yet (although he's not much of a chewer). However, if you want an easy to fill ball that can hold kibble and enliven dinner time, I recommend the Omega Paw tricky Treat ball.
Finally - an truly indestructible dog toy that they stay interested in September 30, 2008 C. K. Donnelly (South Carolina) I've had dogs, and dog toys, my whole life. This is better than the Kong, rawhides, all that stuff. A lot of indestructible toys have no continual interest for the dogs - since you put treats in this, and it rolls around, it is very engaging for your dog. When I first got it I didn't think it would hold up, because the plastic is soft, not rock hard like other "indestructible" toys, but it has lasted two months now, without a scratch, wtihout a tear, without little pieces coming off. This is the best $15 I've spent for my dog. If you only bought ONE dog toy this year, or EVER for your dog, get this one. Seriously. (I have a lab mix and a boxer mix). Don't forget to SPAY AND NEUTER YOUR PETS! Thanks.
I LOVE THIS TOY September 26, 2008 E. Schille (APO, all over the place) I love this toy. My 2 year old lab can chew though anything and trust me when I say she sure has tried but this toy has held up. We order the large and the small both of which have become her favorite toys. She can spend hours at a time just chewing away on those darn things. We even play fetch with them. I LOVE THIS TOY!!!!!
